A Bachelorette Morning in Mount Pleasant: Class, Coffee, Beach

The most useful thing you can put on a Charleston bachelorette itinerary is a Saturday morning that starts before ten. Here is the version we watch groups do from our side of the Ravenel, and why the order works.

8:45 — arrive in Mount Pleasant

From downtown it is about twelve minutes over the Ravenel Bridge. From the islands it is shorter. Park directly outside the studio on S. Shelmore Blvd, free, no meter, no walk. For a group arriving in two or three cars this is the part that keeps you on schedule.

Come ten minutes before the class rather than on the hour. We set each reformer to height and run through the springs before anything starts.

9:00 — the class

Fifty minutes on the reformer with the studio to yourselves, up to sixteen of you. The instructor scales it to the room, so the bride who trains constantly and the friend who has never done this are working the same class at different levels.

It finishes with a stretch series, which is deliberate. You leave loose rather than wrecked.

10:00 — coffee next door

Second State Coffee is immediately next to the studio, which is convenient enough that it has become the default. Fifteen or twenty minutes here is usually where the group actually catches up, and it is the bit people remember.

10:45 — the beach, if you want it

Sullivan Island and Isle of Palms are a short drive east. Going from Mount Pleasant you are already pointed the right way, which is the whole argument for putting the morning on this side of the bridge rather than downtown.

If the group would rather be on the peninsula, that also works — you are twelve minutes from King Street and it is still before lunch.

Why this order

Because the alternative is everyone surfacing at eleven, an hour of deciding, and half the day gone. One fixed point in the morning that somebody has already paid for changes the whole shape of a Saturday.

It is also the only part of the weekend with real scarcity. Weekend mornings from March to October book first — everything else has more give.

Booking it

Send us your date and rough numbers on the bachelorette Pilates page, or call the studio on (843) 608-8660. Tell your group to wear something they can move in and bring a water bottle.
