A Pilates studio in Mount Pleasant Built on Experience, Community & Exceptional Instruction
Pilates of Charleston has been owned and operated by Katie Sovenyhazy since 2011. Over the years, the studio has grown around a simple philosophy: great Pilates should combine exceptional instruction, individual attention, and a community where people genuinely enjoy coming to move.
Katie has been teaching Pilates for more than 20 years, and her work has grown beyond the studio to include mentoring and educating instructors, guest teaching at studios around the country, and teaching and filming for Dynamic Pilates TV. That experience continues to shape the way we approach Pilates of Charleston—not by following trends, but by staying grounded in the principles and fundamentals of Pilates while continuing to evolve how we teach them.
More than anything, Pilates of Charleston is defined by the people inside it. We are a small studio, and we like it that way. Our instructors know our clients by name, our clients get to know one another, and there is a genuine sense of community that has developed over years of moving together.
We are a small studio and we like it that way! We know our clients by name and are genuinely invested in their journey. Our community includes all ages an experience levels, creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and a part of something.
Our classes are athletic, dynamic, and challenging, but they always remain rooted in good movement, proper technique, and the fundamentals of Pilates. We believe a great class should challenge you without losing sight of why you are doing the exercise in the first place.
Our instructor team is highly qualified and brings years of experience working with a wide range of clients, bodies and goals. From navigating injuries to improving technique, our instructors provide thoughtful and individualized instruction. What’s more is that every instructor is an outstanding person with good values at their core.
At the heart of Pilates of Charleston is our team of highly qualified, comprehensively trained instructors. Their experience allows us to work confidently with a wide range of clients, ages, abilities, and goals.
That depth of knowledge is especially important in our private and semi-private sessions, which have always been an important part of what we do. Some clients come to us because they are working through or returning from an injury. Others want to better understand Pilates, refine their technique, build strength, or simply receive more individualized attention. Whatever brings you in, our instructors have the experience to meet you where you are and help you progress from there.
