Something comfortable you can move in, and close-fitting enough that your instructor can actually see your alignment and correct it. Bring a water bottle, and skip the gum — you spend a lot of a reformer class on your back, and chewing is a genuine choking risk.
Five to ten minutes on your first visit. That gives you time to introduce yourself, get set up on the reformer, and tell your instructor about any injuries or hesitations before class starts.
We are a one-room studio with no lobby, so if a private session is still running when you arrive, please wait outside on the bench or grab a coffee next door at Second State. An instructor will wave you in as soon as the room is ready.
Group reformer classes run fifty minutes and finish with a stretch series. Private sessions are forty-five minutes.
Usually, yes — but tell your instructor before class rather than during. If an exercise does not feel right, say so and we will give you a modification on the spot. If you are working around something significant, a private session first is the better starting point, because the whole session gets built around it.
Let your instructor know before class starts, not while everyone is holding a plank. Then you can slip out quietly without breaking the room’s focus.
Have you tried Pilates before? Does working out alongside other people motivate you? Do you want access to our best rates, and enjoy a faster-paced session that pushes you? Then a group class is the right room for you.
You can — we do not require a private session first — but we strongly recommend one.
Group classes move quickly, and clients manage their own reformer: changing springs, adjusting the foot bar, grabbing straps. If you have never been on a reformer, that can feel overwhelming. A private session or two lets you learn the fundamentals and get comfortable with the equipment first. Our introductory private package is built exactly for this.
Every group class is on Balanced Body Allegro 2 reformers, using a wide range of props and accessories — jump boards, resistance bands, magic circles, boxes and handheld weights. It is a full-body workout. Each person is responsible for their own reformer and changes their own springs and straps as the class moves.
Classes in the four-class and eight-class packs must be used within thirty days. Your first scheduled class sets the activation date — the clock does not start until then.
Single classes suit people who cannot commit to four or eight sessions in a month: visitors to Charleston, or anyone with an unpredictable schedule. The packs are better value if you can use them.
A single group class is $40. Four classes are $150 and eight are $260, both valid for thirty days. New clients can start with two classes for $50, which includes a full equipment orientation on your first visit.
Full pricing is on the rates page.
If you prefer one-on-one training, if you have an injury or a limitation that needs a more rehabilitative approach, if you are brand new to Pilates, or if the group schedule simply does not fit your week — then a private or semi-private session is probably the better fit.
Because there is a right and a wrong way to do these exercises. Our introductory package familiarises you with the reformer and takes you through the general repertoire, so that when you do join a group class you get the full benefit of it instead of spending the hour catching up.
Private session packages must be used within six months of your first scheduled session. Introductory packages must be completed within one month of the purchase date.
A single private session is $90. Eight sessions are $680 and twelve are $990, both valid for six months. First-time clients can book an introductory private for $85.
Semi-private sessions are $60 per person for two or three people. Those are reserved by phone — call the studio on (843) 608-8660.
We have a firm twenty-four hour cancellation policy on all group classes and private sessions, and we cannot make exceptions to it.
Cancellations and reschedules must be made at least twenty-four hours ahead. Inside that window, a class that is part of a pack is forfeited, and an unpaid session is charged at full price. Weather and traffic are not exemptions — we have to plan to be there on time too.
Everything is booked through Mindbody, either from the group class schedule or the private session calendar. You will get an email confirming your spot along with a reminder of the cancellation policy.
Drop-ins are welcome but cannot be guaranteed, because wait-listed clients are given priority.
