Yes. Pilates of Charleston has been in Mount Pleasant since 2011, at 778 S. Shelmore Blvd, Suite 104, just off Coleman Boulevard. It is a boutique reformer studio — group classes capped at eight, plus private and semi-private sessions — and it was voted Charleston City Paper’s Best Pilates Studio in 2023 and 2024.
The reformer is a sprung carriage that runs on rails, with straps, a foot bar and adjustable spring tension. The springs can assist a movement or resist it, which is why the same machine suits someone rebuilding after surgery and someone training for a marathon.
We use Balanced Body Allegro 2 reformers, with jump boards, resistance bands, magic circles, boxes and handheld weights depending on the class.
A single group reformer class is $40. Four classes are $150 and eight are $260, both valid for thirty days. Private sessions are $90, with eight for $680 and twelve for $990 over six months. Semi-private sessions are $60 per person for two or three people.
New clients can start with two group classes for $50, including an equipment orientation on the first visit.
No, and plenty of people start with none. Classes do move quickly though, and you manage your own springs and straps, so if you have never been on a reformer we recommend a private session first — or the two-class intro, which includes a full equipment orientation before your first class.
Group reformer classes run fifty minutes and finish with a stretch series. Private sessions are forty-five minutes. Parking is free and directly outside the studio on S. Shelmore Blvd.
