Smoothies, Juice Bars, and Acai Bowls!

Smoothies, juices, and açaí bowls…oh my!  With our non-stop teaching schedules, some days grabbing a bite to eat for lunch is just not in the cards. Our clients seem to always be wondering about how to achieve a healthy lifestyle while maintaining such a hectic work/life balance. Last week, owner and instructor, Katie, let us in on some of her daily habits including grabbing a fruit and veggie filled smoothie or acai bowl in between classes. Like Katie, the gals of Pilates of Charleston have a handful of go-to spots in the low country for fresh pressed juice and protein filled bowls. Next time you need to grab a quick pick me up after one of our reformer classes or have some time in between carpool, check out the list of our favorite juice/smoothie bars in Charleston!

Tres Palmas Acai: @trespalmasaca

Tres Palmas Acai is a no brainer for us because it’s not only delicious, but it’s only steps away from the studio in Shelmore Village.  They have smoothies, açaí bowls and an awesome tuna poke bowl.  Our favorite smoothie is called “The Green Smoothie” and they serve it up with a banana straw…so cute!  Their açaí bowls never disappoint and they always fill them with a healthy dose of fresh fruit, granola, and chia seeds.  Our favorite açaí bowl is the Boujee Bowl which is an açaí blend, topped with granola, raspberries, banana, blueberries, coconut, chia seeds, hemp hearts, bee pollen, cacao nibs, peanut butter, and a honey drizzle.  Yummy!!!

Huriyali: @huriyali

Huriyali is Charleston’s OG health food spot. It seems almost impossible to stop by here just for a smoothie or acai bowl, because literally everything here is so damn delicious. They are also constantly switching up the menu with seasonal ingredients, taking the “farm to table” trend quite literally. The Aloha Bowl is our favorite acai bowl on the menu, with its hearty helping of bananas, coconut chips, local honey, and homemade granola…pro tip: add a scoop of their freshly made almond butter to the top! Enjoy the Aloha on their back garden patio and truly take a minute for yourself to enjoy the outdoors and fuel up on some organic goodies

 Clean Juice @cleanjuice

Clean Juice, Mt. Pleasant is also an ideal location to get your smoothie fix following a Pilates of Charleston class, as their right across the 17 at the South Shelmore intersection.  Their organic smoothies and elixir shots are the exact things you need to treat yourself with after you just built up a sweat!  Because pumpkin spice season is upon us, we love treating ourselves to “The Pumpkin One” smoothie: banana, pumpkin, almond milk, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla.  From their regular protein smoothie menu, it’s hard to choose between “The Recovery One,” which is a bland of almond butter, almond milk, banana, honey, strawberries and your choice of either hemp or whey protein, and “The Chocolate One,” which is a blend of almond butter, almond milk, banana, cacao, cinnamon, and maple syrup.

Vintage Coffee Cafe: @vintagecoffeecafe

Another great option for a quick, healthy bite in Mount Pleasant is Vintage Coffee Cafe. We suggest you go here when you have a little time for yourself and take in the seriously adorable, quaint space and outdoor seating. There’s a ton of veggie filled options on this menu like the Avocado Toast and the Farm Egg Sandwich. However, it’s their PB Cocoa Banana Acai Bowl with homemade granola and dark chocolate shavings that have us coming back for more! Their pour over coffee and Turmeric Ginger Chai Latte are also menu standouts!  This is also a great place to bring the kiddos, as they have an epic outdoor play space.

Smoothies and juice bars aren’t exactly new to the ever-changing health food crazes, however they have proven to be our go-to option for quite sometime. We love how easily we can get our fruit and veggie intake while sipping on a smoothie or a fresh pressed juice. Additionally, sometimes having something a little sweet like a granola topped acai bowl fills our sweet tooth in a guilt-free way. We can’t wait for you guys to check out some of these places on our list and are always looking out for new, delicious places to try out too!
